I will IMPROVE YOUR DISPLAYS

I’ve said before that I look at things from a consumer point of view. I can’t help it. I figure if you care about what you are saying to people, shouldn’t it show you care? I’ve heard so many times in my career, “make it pretty, Cisco.” Here is the thing. People make things pretty all the time for the people they care about. Around the holidays, people bust their asses getting the house and things just right for friends and family. We all try hard for the people we care about. Why not care about the people you ask to buy from you with great marketing materials and things like retail displays and product merchandising?

The reason products and displays get overlooked is because it seems like such an unimportant aspect of  business. Half-filled displays, open boxes, lack of order and general disarray is the bane of every retailer. Don’t agree? Look at the largest retailers in the world and tell me if you think they care.

Merchandising isn’t about creativity. Merchandising is mostly a science, a discipline. It is also showing you care about the people who are looking at it. The upside is that when you merchandise correctly, you naturally sell more products! Full, attractive and inviting displays always sell more product.

If you are a retailer, how you present your wares matters. It may not matter to you because you see it every day. To inspire people however, you have to care about them.
