I am personally starting an awareness campaign against putting two spaces after a period. Why? Because it is WRONG. If you want to be right about something, this topic is NOT for you. If you would argue that the correct manner in which to punctuate a sentence is to place two spaces after the period, you would be dead wrong. Who says? The typographers who design type and the creators of such marvelous inventions as the Word-processor and computers which corrected the need for the practice back when a typewriter was around. One space will do you because spacing issues associated with type was corrected many years ago. Imagine the wear-and-tear on your space bar you will save now.

Why does it matter? Because I get volumes of copy from people that still do it! I have to take all those spaces out. They create a nightmare of trouble when leading and kerning type, two practices that if you double space, you most certainly do not unitize. So please, one space only after a period. Spread the word!
